One of my previous articles I wrote about acting robot. Today, I want to discuss other types of robot, Aiko. It is one types of sexy female robot built by Le Trung from Ontario, Canada. It can recognize faces and able to do the house cleaning, remember his favorite drinks and read him the newspaper headlines. To build his dream girl, Le has to spend around 2 years of time. He created the life-size female robot Aiko, and dubbed it his ‘perfect woman’, insists that he did not design and make it for sexual purposes though it was one of the possible uses of the technology. According to News.com he said, “In theory, yes it’s capable of that and whether people want to use it like that, it’s up to them.”

Aiko, a female android, has got a stunning 32-23-33 figure, attractive pretty face and shiny hair. It can speak both Japanese and English. It can respond to annoyances and questions. She has also the ability to talk and interact with humans with more than 13,000 sentences. She is equipped with a special sensor which allows her to signal pain or annoyance. It is designed with a touch-sensitive face and body. Therefore, she can react naturally if she is shown any affection or hurt. Like a woman, she is able to react to your touch. However, if you do it the wrong way she will slap you. She has got all senses except for smell. “I designed Aiko to be as human as possible, that’s why I designed it like that,” said Le.

Le has said she is still a virgin. He does not sleep with her though he admits in the near future it can be designed as a sexual partner. For this purposes, Aiko’s software could be redesigned and developed to simulate her having an orgasm. He said, “In the future everybody will have one in their house – but now people aren’t used to it yet.”

In this modern era, we have heard the name dancing robots, house-sitting robots, but at this moment a new breed of robots, acting robots, is taking the world by storm. The latest species of robots (30 kg) has already made its big debut on the Japanese stage after one month of rehearsals.

Skilled experts and scientists at Osaka University developed software to train robots to tread the boards together with their human actors in an attempt to fuse cutting-edge robotics with the world of arts. These robots are specially programmed and made to speak lines with human counterparts and move around the stage with them. The stage-play which titled Hataraku Watashi (I, Worker), and it had premiere at Osaka University, is one of Japan’s first robot-human theatre productions. The Wakamaru robot is manufactured and assembled by Mitsubushi though the software to train it for the stage play was developed over two months at the university.

On the other hand, dramatist Oriza Hirata says the work, set in the near future, has raised some questions about the relationship and bond between humanity and technology. According to playwright the play is based on the life of a young pair that get two housekeeping robots, and one of which loses its motivation to work. In the play the robot complains that it has been forced along with pressured into boring and demeaning jobs, then go through into a discussion with the human actor about its role in their lives. Presently, the length of this play is only 20 minutes although its makers expect that it will turn into a full-length production by 2010.
