“Yaogan VI” Successfully Launched

Last Wednesday, China sent a Remote-Sensing Satellite named “Yaogan VI”. It was launched from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center. The center is located in Shanxi Province (north). Just at 10:55 a.m. the rocket was sent into the space successfully on a Long March 2C carrier rocket. The satellite flight was the 117th of the Long March series of carrier rockets.

- Environmental Surveillance
- Disaster Prevention
- Environmental Protection
- Urban Planning
- Crop yield estimates
- Crop Yield Reduction
- Space Science Experiments
Developer of the satellite: Developed by the Shanghai Academy of Space flight Technology under the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corp.
Designer of the rocket: Designed by the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology.
The rocket’s predecessor:
“Yaogan V,” was launched in December 2008 from Taiyuan
“Yaogan IV” was launched in December 2008 from Jiuquan
“Yaogan III” was launched in November 2007 from Taiyuan
“Yaogan II” was launched in May 2007
“Yaogan I” was launched in April 2006
